Make India a manufacturing hub for Electric Vehicles - The long term thinking of the current government with respect to Electric Vehicles is very much on the lines of Make in India. The budget of 2019 has promoted exactly that goal. The customs duty on Lithium Ion Cells has been cut to ZERO so that lithium ion batteries for Electric Vehicles are made in India. Of the Rs. 10, 000 crores sanctioned to FAME II, as mush as Rs. 1, 000 crores have been allocated to Electric Vehicle Charging stations. The government fully understands and appreciates that the adoption of Electric Vehicles can only be done if a robust and widespread charging infrastructure is available.
