UPCOMING LAUNCHES OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES – Yet another government initiative to push demand for Electric Vehicles in India was announced by transport minister Nitin Gadkari in the last week of June. He announced that Electric Vehicles will be exempted from payment of Road Tax. Added to that in the coming six months the following electric vehicles will hit the Indian Roads. Hyundai KONA is going to be launched on 09th July 2019. The vehicle will carry a 39-kWh battery pack which will give it a range of 300 kms on a single charge. The vehicle will have the capability to be charged up to 80 % within 50 minutes when connected to a 100 kW DC Electric Vehicle Fast charging station. MG Motor India will launch its model MG eZS in December 2019. This model is going to have a range of about 330 kms on a single charge. This too can be charged quickly when connected to a DC Electric Vehicle Fast charging station. Mahindra e KUV100 is probably going to be the most economical electric vehicle. The vehicle will have a 31-kWh battery with a range of 140 kms. The most popular electric vehicle in the world which is “NISSAN LEAF” is also slated to hit the Indian roads soon.
